The Kite Runner on Broadway is a must see

I went to see Khaled Hosseini’s The Kite Runner on Broadway @kiterunnerbway last weekend, featuring the ultra talented Amir Arison @amirarison as the lead.

Fantastic production, definitely worth seeing whether you’ve read the book or not. Arison was phenomenal as the main character (also named Amir).

We got to say hi afterwards, and he was super friendly and warm, as were the other awesome cast members like Azita Ghanizada @azitagram who played Amir’s wife Soraya.

I’ve always loved the way Broadway audiences can wait outside after a play and meet cast members as they leave the theater through side doors. The actors sign playbills, chat with fans, and then walk off into the anonymity of Times Square crowds. Such an incredible NYC thing.

I’ve also always found it so inspiring to see how much pride these professionals take in their theater work. All the TV/Movie actors I’ve heard leaving the theater invariably speak about how different and challenging and special theater is, and how much they care about their work on Broadway and how the plays are received. Arison (who stars on NBC’s The Blacklist) and Ghanizada (who does a lot of TV) said the same. These folks give it their all.

NYC dearly missed Broadway during the first couple of years of COVID and it’s such a blessing for the city to have it back; can’t take it for granted this time.
